During this past year, the old curse, “may you live in interesting times” has often entered my mind. The trajectory: Vague rumors of a mysterious menace in our midst, which then became existential -- people wearing masks, physically and psychically distancing from each other, and reports of widespread illness, hospitalizations, and deaths. Life became confusing – flying apart and at the same time contracting. Months of fear and tedium led to the patching together of a new type of existence. Finally, there is optimism that these interesting times may become less so.
