ADRIFT-2 - Amy Richard

Artist-made paper (abaca fiber,) wire, natural dyes, 80 x 48 x 24

Inspired by the reproductive processes of the Florida fighting conch (Strombus alatus), a marine mollusk commonly found in the Ten Thousand Islands off Florida’s west coast. Rarely seen by humans, their gelatinous egg casings are designed to dissolve once the free swimming larvae are released into the water. Seeing these natural wonders evokes a sense of awe accompanied by a wistful nostalgia for long summer days at the beach with my sons.
